Mossbank Jnr FC Greens v Marauders Knights
12th April 2014

This week sees the Knights away to Mossbank, on the worse pitch i’ve seen for a long time. The Knights couldn’t get the passing game going as the pitch was not ideal for a team of passing quality. George had a few chances as did Ben, but never took them. Mossbank were playing the long ball game and game close a few times. Mossbank had a pen, but missed as Dan gave his eyes which he does well.
0-0 ht.
Changes were made at ht with Wes going up front, Jack in midfield and Cam on the left. With some good passing and moving, it was a matter of time before we scored and when Jack played in Lewis to make it 1-0. Kane then took a pass from Cam and played a ball to Wes who took the ball in his stride and finished perfect. 2-0. The Knights were on their way, and with 7 mins to go; Wes, Cam and Dyl, played a passing move between them, which sees Wes set up Jack. 3-0.
Mossbank gets 1 back but by then the game was wrapped up.

Its the game the Knights have been wishing for, and the clash of the semi final. (Top of Section A v Top of Section B) The Knights were up for this game as you could see the passion from the start. From k.o. Knights were straight at their game, with some quick passing and good powerful runs down the wings, from Nathan and Ben. Josh comes close twice, but never finished. The Knights were holding the back line perfect and Dan was never really tested, but was kept on his toes. The Knights had chances, but never finished. However, they looked sharper and quicker, and more likely to score. But ht came so it was 0.0.

Second half see changes, with Wes and Lewis coming on. It was were the Knights had left off, but with even more passion and pace in their game. Changes again came for both sides, and when the referee blew for a goal to Strikerz, as the ball was to have gone behind the line when Dan had it in his hands. 1-0.

The Knights hit straight back with a cross from Dylan causes mayhem in the box and Lewis slams home 1-1.
Changes made with wes going into centre mid with Kane and Ben now on the left, the Knights found another gear, and George smashes one against the bar, which the Knights crowd thought had gone in. However Lewis finishes 2-1. Straight at the re take fc Stikerz gets forward and a ball played through sees a mix up with Wes and Dan, and it 2-1 Galacticos.KWith less than 5 mins to go the knights should have really made it 3 with chances from, ben, jack, wes, nathan. then with less than 60 seconds to exra time, wes, plays a fast ball to to Jack, who goes on a run, only to be taken out, Ben stands up to take, and after a word from the bench he pauses, and smashes a free kick, Ronaldo would have been proud of. The whistle was blown 3-2 and the Knights went wild, and well deserved too.
motm—- all the team.

So the Knights will play the FINAL AT THE REEBOK STADIUM.
Well done Dave O’Gorman, thats 2 league titles won on the trot. 1 semi final, 1 final.
and winners of the ultimate cup sci 2013.

I would like to thank the parents, as you all played your part again this year with all your help on match days and much more. We at the Knights show the way, so hope we’ll all enjoy the final and hopefully bring another major trophy back to Prestwich Marauders FC.

Prestwich Marauders Knights 4-0 Boothstown Rangers
15th March 2014

Minutes Silence before the game for Ben O’Neill, a 12 year old who played for Bar Hill JFC and died suddenly from an asthma attack that week. The Knights had played Barr Hill on numerous occasion and wish condolences to his family. RIP Ben.

Straight from kick off the real Knights come out all blazing. 1-0 up with a header from Lewis, then goals from Josh, and Wes brown makes it 3-0 ht.
Second half sees changes, and again some quick passing, from keeper Dan then 1 touch passing sees Ben hit the 4th.

And with results else where going the Knights way see us league WINNERS FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING
(if Mr O’Gorman don’t win manager off the month id be shocked – Mark)

HSM Tornadoes 4-4 Prestwich Marauders Knights
8th March 2014

Its silent weekend, sees the Knights away, on a very bad pitch.
HMS take the lead after 2 mins, then Wes play a perfect pass for Jack to level. Again HMS hit back 2-1. Then the Wes show stared. The famous no 10 shirt was on fire hitting a first half hat trick with 3 top draw goals. Puts us 4-2 up at ht.
The second half seen changes, but HNS came back 4-3 and with mins remaining, a dodgy pen* see it level 4-4.
MOTM Wes…………………………………………………………….

* – Goalie actually saves the pen, but HSM follow up faster than the Knights.

Prestwich Marauders Knights 4-2 Atherton Town
1st March 2014

With a full squad, and new signing Jack, the Knights started slowly and never got going. Chance after chance was not taken and we paid the price. 1-0 down. 5 mins from ht, a corner by Ben, sees Cam head in 1-1.
The second half sees the real Knights, with Wes, Jack and Nathan, on the pace. A great ball from Dan sees Josh through who beats 3 players with quick feet to put the Knights ahead. Dyl goes on a run which Evra would be proud of, then lays off Wes, who finished with perfection. Atherton then score against the run off play. Then Nathan flying down the wing, plays a great ball to Wes who hits a brace.

Prestwich Marauders Knights V Woodbank
22nd Feb. 2014

The knights are drawn against the high flyers in the 1st division Woodbank. Quarters finals. 8 mins in the Knights took control of the game and pressed Woodbank, backwards. We looked the more likely to score 1st, then Nathan plays Capt Ben in who makes it 1_0. Woodbank make it 1_1 against the run of play. HT josh scores after a quick passing move for Ben to cross perfect for the finish. Woodbank again levelled. But the Knights weren’t in the mood to lose. Some changes were made by Dave*. And again the Knights stepped up a gear. For a ball from Wez sees Kane hit a long range beauty home. A well earned win.

Friendly match, due to cancelled league game.
Substitute goalie Lewis, due to Dan being out with a broken finger for a month.
Goals from Wes (4), George(2), Lewis(1) – Pen.
George’s hat trick goal ruled off side by dodgy linesman 🙂
Man of the Match – Wes

Prestwich Marauders Knights V Darcy Lever
18th Jan. 2014

League game 15 sees the Knights away to Darcy Lever, who are a very hard team to play. The Knights seem to be getting the ( sexy football ) back into their game, with today’s captain Nathan leading the way. The Knights were constantly getting a lot of joy down the wings with Ben and Nathan. A great passing move starting from the in form Dan in goal, a good control by Wes, sees Ben hit the opener. 1-0. The Knights took control of the game. Our back three; Joe, Haz and Dylon, were outstanding along side Dan in goal. Another slick passing move in midfield between Cam, Wes, Kane sees Kane hit a perfect unstoppable left foot shot drive. 2-0.
The Knights had plenty of chances with Wes, hitting the bar, and post, but another quick move sees our famous No 7 Cam make it 3-0.

Man of the Match – Kane

Prestwich Marauders Knights V Bolton County Raptors
11th Jan. 2014

After going 1:0 down, the Knights struggled to find the passing game we’re use to seeing. Josh went on a run only to be taken down in the box. Lewis levelled with the spot kick. The Raptors hit straight back. 2:1. We were heading for our first defeat with 20 mins to go, a double change by the manager. Bring on Wez and Ben. And 5 mins from time, after some great footwork, Wez makes it 2:2. With 2 mins left Nathan shows great calmness to play Ben in, who slots home 3:2 . Great football to watch from both teams.
– Mark Knott

The defence were their usual solid selves. Although they’ve had better games. A couple of parents almost kicked off at one point, but it was considered they should be left to themselves to sort things out, given they were married to each other.
