Hawks & Falcons Tournament Champions

Hawks win Radcliffe Juniors Tournament 2015

First up came Radcliffe Borough Aces, playing against them for the fifth time this season they are quickly becoming our local rivals 😉 In a very close game the Aces won through with some shows of skill later on.

Next up, a new challenger approaching, St Andrews, an unknown force? A very close game ensued, it seemed Luke’s goal direct from the corner would clinch it, but two very late strikes swung the game in St Andrews favour, the boys learned that football can be a cruel game.

Being a tournament format though it was all still to play for, a win in the final group game should on paper bring an easier game in the semi final. But first the Hawks had to face the local heros: Radcliffe Juniors, a team the Hawks hadn’t played since their 3rd ever game back in July. In a great game of end to end stuff the Hawks won through.

Then the semi final, against the other Radcliffe Juniors team, the easier game proved to be an empty promise! Spurred on by their home advantage the Juniors couldn’t be broken down, their keeper having a great game and peppering the Hawks goal mouth with shots from the kick-off. The Hawks clung on, and found the breakthrough in the end. Well played Radcliffe Juniors, the Hawks progress to the final against the other Radcliffe Juniors.

In a tense opening, the coaches were nervous, the fans were nervous, but the boys, like they had all day, battled on bravely. In another great game the Hawks got their victory, and the first silverware for our coaches, pride all round.

Well played Radcliffe Juniors, and well played Marauders Hawks.
