Kestrels beat Bolton Colts

Another successful morning for the Kestrels a win against Bolton Colts – another team we’ve not beaten before! I won’t go on a lengthy ramble but an opening goal from Haris (slightly aided by the netting) got us off to a good start and then headed goals from Dominik and Wilson kept us in the game. A lovely strike from Raquami in the closing minutes gave us the win. It’s a tight pitch to play to any of our major strengths of speed and skill but a really gritty display from our middle and defence ensured we won it. Nathan was nominated man of the match for solid defensive play and snuffing out their attacking threats, but a strong all-round game from everyone. Well done all!

Jaguars beat Chadderton Park Eagles.

A fantastic team performance from the boys this morning to take 3 points in R1 of the U9 Cup. We talked about our pressing game before kick off and wow, from the kick off the boys really pushed for the ball. They got the rewards with 2 early goals and continued to keep the ball really well. Sam and Max in defence supported by Ned pushed the Chadderton attacks back at will and a great move brought a Jaguars third before we conceded to go in at half time 3-1. The Jaffa Cakes worked for us again and it was more of the same in the second half with Lewis in goal making some fantastic saves to keep our lead a healthy one. More goals came with Marley, Fred and Max taking chances well supported by the wingers. At the final whistles, great team scenes as the winning player circle was created with the boys jumping for joy….great to see. MOTM Luca for running his socks off and hitting the post 4 times

Bury Girls beat Wildcats.
Honours even this season. After not playing for over 6 weeks, as a team we were rusty and it showed. But we gave them a tough game, brilliant work on the wings esp from my MOTM Adanze on the left wing. With a special mention also to the defence who put in a proper shift today.  When we did get near their box we simply tried to walk it in. Should of been over 5 up in the first half alone. Shooting boots were definitely left at home today.
But the girls left their lungs on the pitch and I can not ask more than giving it your all. Game time will bring back the sharpness and cohesion we lacked today. ( although if anyone knows a year 7 girl who can hit a ball, please let me know) Opposition MOTM Sophia in goal.

Pumas beat Bridge FC Eagles.

Pumas clearly enjoyed a very relaxing Christmas break. Full of energy and raring to go, the boys were in full control of this R1 Cup fixture from the off. High press and strong in the challenge, Puma’s were formidable. Joseph opened the scoring with a neat finish after a tricky run, and the goals kept coming with Izu, James, Fraser and Alex all finding the net. Good use of the width, and great to see the boys with their chins up looking to play balls into the channels. Man of the match to Alex for a first rate all round performance, topped off with classy double hat trick.

Raiders beat Walshaw.

Great performance from the boys, 2 up at half time to then find themselves 3-2 with 7 minutes remaining. They dug in and managed to get the 2 goals to win it.Goals from Will and Luca with 2 from man of the match Ashton. Pleasing to see both Aston’s goals coming from corners practised on the training ground.Every lads played really well and stuck to the task at hand against a good Walshaw team.
