News and results for Saturday 16th March.

Lions beat springhead reds.
It was by far the worst conditions the lions have played in. If it was up to me it would of been off. We started well keeping the ball and passing it around with ease. We created a good few chances but wasted them but in the conditions this was understandable. They then broke and scored against the run of play. Defenders caught napping and Sam in net asleep bad goal to concede unfortunately. The boys then got going again and we hit back straight away. Big throw from fin to dj who flicked it on with his head to Daniel who smashed it home from the edge of the box into the corner. Great goal and more than  deserved equaliser. We had a few more chances but couldn’t find the net so all square at half time. No team talk as the weather was getting worse. Just sent the boys out with more of the same please. Straight from the off we were pressing them high up. Their keeper making save after save and also bad finishing again. Then we got in front with a great team goal, pass after pass one touch football with Daniel on hand edge of the box to place it in the far corner. Their heads went and the boys went for the kill. Smashing in another 3 dj with 2 and Matthew with the other. Sam made two great saves in the last 5 minutes. Motm Owen. Strong at the back and splitting their team constantly with his great passing through to the boys up top.
Great second half display from all the boys today in shocking conditions and looking like drowned rats walking off at the end.
Kestrels beat Woodley Blues
The conditions were as bad as it gets.
The boys battled through torrential freezing rain to give a brilliant performance against a very good Woodley team.
A well worked short corner between Joe B and Dan led to the opener from Ali, a header at the far post. Dan then extended the lead, a rebound from a long range effort.
Woodley got a fortunate goal back, but the the boys continued to play hard with some outstanding link up play in midfield – we had back heels, flicked one-twos, Maradonas, all sorts, some lovely stuff.
Joe B made it 3-1 with a long free kick which snuck in through a crowded penalty area.
A free kick and penalty then gave Woodley parity.
Dominik and Callum each did some great work in goal with the ball sliding around unpredictably.
Kestrels’ two final goals were ridiculous: Raquami nailed one of his standard long range lobs for the fourth and Haris produced a moment of genius 360ing around two players before smashing it top bins – even Woodley’s coaches were applauding, and he gets man of the match for that.
Brilliant performance today – particularity impressive was the tackling, shooting on sight and communication.
