Bad day at the office all round. One to forget and we go again next week.
Kestrels beat Chadderton Park Cobras
Kestrels showed all their quality, completely overwhelming Chadderton Park with five goals in each half.
It took a while for them to get going, spurning half a dozen chances before Wilson’s cooly taken opener gave the boys the confidence to attack at will.
Raquami showed some neat feet for the second, which was soon followed by two goals from corners, first from Ali and then man of the match Nathan, proving the most determined at a goal mouth scramble.
Callum’s diving tip on to the bar was the first of a number of excellent saves to ensure an impressive clean sheet.
A wonderful, composed run from Haris set Dan up to finish low for the final play of the first half.
The second half was more of the same as Kestrels’ defence pushed to add more to the tally.
Joe R finished a neat attacking move for the sixth; Haris’s low long range effort made it seven; Alex, who was persistent up front throughout, got goals eight and nine.
Duke then had a number of chances coming in from the left, but was thwarted by a combination of woodwork and defenders throwing themselves in the way.
Kestrels saved the best for last: Raquami, out of midfield, scooped a delightful ball over the Cobras back three which Wilson pounced on and finished on the spin around the keeper, who, in fairness, had been Cobras’ best player
