Pumas beat Elton and Walshaw Alleycats.

Another qualifying round of Cup fun for Puma’s this morning, with a convincing display in awful conditions. A very efficient all round team  performance and Bobby never really troubled between the sticks. 7 of the 9 boys finding the back of the net, including a neat finish from Bobby who came out into a forward position for the last ten minutes. On we go. Well done Puma’s

Jaguars lost to Whitworth Valley Whites.

Round 3 of the cup saw The Jaguars back on the grass at SMP this morning. A slow start saw us lose a couple of early goals but with some solid defending and some top quality saves from Lewis we started to see more of the ball and our passing game kicked in. Freddy worked hard in midfield making some great runs supported well by our wingers. Luca worked hard upfront to create spaces and got his reward with a cracking strike. Whitworth pushed hard and some lucky breaks of the ball saw them go in at Half time 1-4. Our game improved in the second half but our defence was always under pressure and it brought further goals to make it 1-7 before a late Jaguars flurry of goals from Freddy (2) and Luca (2) clawed back some of the deficit. In the end a really brave effort from all the boys and their passion for wanting to win came through load and clear. Well done boys….MOTM -Lewis between the sticks, a quality performance

A&T Girls beat Wildcats.
Tough game for our girls against a giant team of Wigan girls. Although once again we are quite literally down to bare bones, full team but no subs. We started positively through Heather putting us 1 up by doing what we do best, keeping the ball on the floor, moving forward and passing through the gaps. But no matter the play, sometimes luck ( and a few dodgy decisions) don’t go your way. An average mistake by a 11 yo keeper, an OG by Wildcat and a penalty against us soon took us 3 behind. Second half and a little change and further words about keeping positions saw the girls play a lot better, we did go down another goal to a bit of a toebung past Sophia F in goal, but we brought 1 back through some simple passing and a great finish by Sophia C.
The girls today realized where we are going slightly awry and will use today’s game as a lesson learnt and move onwards and upwards. But very impressed by their ongoing improvement.

Marauders Girls u9’s  lost to Woodbank Girls.
In their 2nd ever game, the girls came within a whisker of their first win already.
A little low on players this morning saw the 7 girls play every minute of the game against a much more experienced side with a couple of extra players to sub in and out.  After taking the lead early on, the girls battled hard to regain the the advantage when the opposition drew the score level and we went into half time 3-1 up. 2nd half and the girls went out with the same plan as the first half,  but I think this is where the lack of extra legs foiled the girls from their first win. The other team brought a few more fresher players on and with new emphasis on attack they drew back the 3 goals required for a win.
So many high points for every girl out there today, every girl helped each other when it was required, and every girl was 100% in their attitude.  These girls are growing every time they play football together, but not just in the game but also as friends and this is exactly what it should be all about at this stage,  friends having fun together.
Dave is doing a brilliant job of coaching these girls.
