Congratulations to all the lads, coaches and helpers on such an impressive double.
Gaffer Stewart said: “It is fully deserved after a long hard first season at 11-a-side.
“The clinching game was a blur to be honest and I was nervous. What a strike from Jurgen for the third goal and well done to William and Marlon for getting on the score sheet.
“I thought JP was outstanding again and that sliding block in the first half to stop a goal was right up there.
“It was great to see the boys celebrating together at the end and it'll be a great memory for them.”
Diamonds under-12s girls completed the Prestwich derby double with a win over cross-town rivals Allstars.
Coach Mark said: “The battle for top billing in Prestwich played out the reverse fixture at Drinkwater Park and the Diamonds were to emerge victorious again.
“It was a tougher ask than the home fixture, but I think the scoreline doesn’t do us justice.
“I honestly can’t remember Darci having to make a save or Allstars really getting any clean shots off at all as the back two and holding midfielder basically stopped everything at source.
“However, Darci stayed alert and mopped everything up that was played from deep and consistently communicated with the wall in front of her.
“We should really have gone into the break a couple of goals up.The half-time team talk was basically keep going and the goal will come, which it duly did with our dynamic duo up top combining.
“I thought in the second half Allstars got more of a foot into the game. But we were the dominant team and looked more likely to add to the score rather than concede.
“There was morevcontroversy in the dying minutes, when Allstars were awarded a throw-in in the Diamond's half.
“It was a foul throw, and the ref blew his whistle to stop play. After the whistle an Allstars player hit a looped shot that sailed into our net, but it was no goal.
“The Allstars were up in arms but it was the correct call. Once the whistle is blown play goes back to that point and it was a Diamond’s throw.
“It was a really good bit of refereeing and admirable that such a young official stood by his decision.
“Diamonds saw the game out and walked away deserved winners and we now have one hand on the title. I reminded them that complacency kills, so there can be no let up for the final three fixtures.
“Parents’ player of the game was Frankie. She was a monster at the back, and didn’t give the opposition a sniff.
“Kris’ player of the game was Erin. She switched between the wing and playing centrally all match and put in some insane crosses.
“Craig’s player of the game was Eva. She was a Rolls Royce in the middle of the park with a box-to-box performance.
“I gave my award to the whole team. Every single one of them should be immensely proud of their efforts and that goes for the whole season so far.”
Phantoms boys under-16s missed out narrowly against top-of-the-table Chadderton, going down 1-0.
Coach Marc said: “We definitely matched the Chadderton team and could have beaten them. We had so many chances, but that’s just how the game went unfortunately.
“The lads didn’t play as well as they have in the last few games, they were drawn into a scrappy game with a lot of pushing and pulling.
“We didn’t pass the ball around or keep possession as much as we would have liked but the effort was there.
“We were winning the ball a lot more in the middle of the pitch and mopping up at the back when needed.
“We just lacked a little something when going on the attack, but overall not the worst result we have had this season.
“I hope the lads aren’t too disheartened by the result - they gave it a good go and I’m sure next time we meet them they will be a lot more confident going into the game and could get a better result.
“Player of the game went to Isaac. He had a great game in the centre of midfield and should definitely have been on the score sheet.”
Panthers under-10s boys took on Strike Reds in a friendly.
Coach Ste said: “The Panthers started well, passing the ball about and were dominant in possession.
“The lads were putting the effort in and despite some skilful Strike play Hudson was winning everything in midfield and the Panthers were getting closer to a goal.
“Just before the break the Panthers got what they deserved as James scored a great solo effort.
“However, moments later William’s determination on the edge of the box won the ball and he hit a great strike.
“The Panthers continued to push with Jay and James combining well on the left but denied by their keeper.
“At the other end Strike continued to threaten on the counter. After a good save from David the ball looked at though it was going in, but Freddie appeared out of nowhere with a fantastic goal line clearance.
“Soon after a long ball from Rocco found Jay, who thought he had scored, only to hit the crossbar and James’ follow up was slightly too high.
“But then moments later Enzo skilfully beat two players and played in James who scored his second of the game.
“Credit to all of the lads for the effort they put in. They should all hold their head up high.
“It was very tough to choose a player of the match, however with some excellent play down the left and scoring two goals, the crown went to James.”
Fellow under-10s boys Jaguars beat Oldham Dynamos 2-1 in a cup group game.
Coach Tim said: “After last week's sleepy start, the boys started really well and looked certain to score, with Flynn, Riley and an audacious effort from Ned all going close.
“Oldham grew into the game though, and Marauders became too deep, relying on Stanley and Gabriel's smart defending to avoid conceding.
“The Jaguars were clearly the better team and, after being reminded of the fact at half time, they started the second period really strongly, with Riley driving inside from a kick in and finishing low.
“There were great celebrations as the Marauders Ultras (Alison) made their presence felt.
“Oldham were dangerous on the counter and also from high goal kicks. Our defence managed the threat well but an equaliser came when Gabriel was beaten at the near post.
“Pegged back at 1-1, Jaguars responded well. Phaedon and Oscar helped drive the team forward, Casper thought his effort had crossed the line, Adam had a couple of openings, Riley and Ned showed great footwork and shots but somehow, the Jaguars' superiority did not see the lead increase.
“Cometh the hour, cometh the man and after James's corner was cleared he gathered the ball, looked up and lofted it back into the area and into the net. A cross? A shot? James can confirm but there was no doubt about the result, with the Jaguars running out as deserving winners.”
Cheetahs girls under-13s had a tough encounter at Radcliffe, with only 10 players available.
Coach Alex said: “We asked for a 10v10 but the opposition didn’t wish to do that, so with the spirit of developing girls in football and getting them as much opportunity to play as possible, we started a player down to ensure the fixture could take place.
“Radcliffe have a couple of brilliant strikers and with us only having 10 players, including no goalkeeper, we were up against it.
“We saw shot after shot and within 20 minutes Radcliffe had a five-goal lead. Their coach then took a player off and for me this is when the game really started and we really gave it a go.
“The message was simple, ignore the scoreline, enjoy playing football and support each other and the girls were brilliant.
“We conceded a sloppy goal just before half time making it 6-0. The team talk was just get a goal and view it as being just 0-1 down as that was the score when the sides had equal players.
“Pearl was outstanding in goal and made some daring decisions which paid off. A couple of incredible ‘slight’ touch saves and also closing down their players whenever the opportunity arose put them off and forced errors.
“Our defence had a job to do against a team not frightened of striking from distance. We’ve worked on defend and cover principles in training and it was good to see that in practice.
“Brilliant work from Belle in the second half as left back, Maya on the right had to deal with Radcliffe’s star player and did incredibly well particularly in that second half.
“The Charlotte-Katy partnership is going from strength to strength in the central roles. We even had some driving runs from them cutting through their midfield and finding passes to support the attacks.
“Midfield is the only place we made changes by just switching players around and it had a big impact second half.
“Summer, Sian, Orlaith and Pantea needed the energy they gave, covering a lot of ground between them. Whenever we had the ball they all moved up and we had more
than a few passes in behind playing some good football.
“Emily played as lone striker and made some very well timed runs, putting their defence and keeper under pressure whenever she could.
“Due to some good link-up play and strong pressing we found ourselves with more than a few chances in front of goal.
“After one well-worked piece of football, connecting across our midfield and finding Summer on the right, she had time to cut inside and pick her shot into the bottom left corner. This was rightly celebrated by everyone.
"The girls once again showed how much heart they have, lifting themselves and each other and going for it.
“The whole team got the player of the game award as everyone of them deserved a pat on the back.”
Phoenix girls under-11s and their hosts East Leigh wore odd socks, as part of World Down’s Syndrome Day. Read more about the campaign.
The home team profited from pacey breakaways, but Marauders also suffered some misfortune with several balls falling kindly to their opponents.
Keeper Isabella was exceptional and made two particularly unbelievable saves, yet in keeping with the way the game went, the rebounds fell to unmarked East Leigh players to score.
Phoenix player of the game was Noe, who scored a cracker and never stopped running all game. When not seeking openings, fellow midfield dynamo Lois helped the defence on numerous occasions and Adalind added to her impressive goal tally while toiling away up top against three defenders.
Mia shone in her time on the left of midfield and deserved her goal, while Iris and April put full effort in on either flank, with April having a good crack at playing striker too.
Blake is adding tackling to her repertoire as she continues to grow in confidence, while Grace played some nice passes out of defence in the first half.
Lola played some lovely passes, Brooke made plenty of good interceptions early on and Annabel showed her versatility in two different positions.
